TanzaniteOne's FY profit triples as output rises to 1,7m ct/y

Aim-listed tanzanite miner TanzaniteOne’s full-year profit has jumped by some 267% to $6,6-million on the back of a 38% increase in production to 1,7-million carats.

Green future awaits Tanzanian gem-miner

Following its acquisition of the Lemshuku-Shamberai Tsavorite project, coloured gemstone mining company Tanzanite One has initiated a bulk sampling project on the eluvia component of the resource, and is also considering diamond drilling in terms of the available underground resource.

"It has been 40 years since the discovery of the first tanzanite gemstone in Merelani, Tanzania, by a Masaai tribesman in a mountainous region, 40-km south of Mount Kilimanjaro, but the precious mineral is, in the last few years, becoming more sought after than it has ever been", says tanzanite-mining and marketing company TanzaniteOne CEO Ian Harebottle.
